Mouse aim assist Call of Duty: Warzone: how to get it with a virtual controller
On PC, Call of Duty: Warzone applies aim assist to controller input — and gives nothing to a raw mouse. Inputize converts your mouse and keyboard into a virtual Xbox 360 controller, so the game treats your aim as controller input and its aim-assist values finally apply to your mouse.
Does mouse get aim assist in Call of Duty: Warzone?
The short answer, and the mechanics behind it.
Call of Duty is the most explicit example of input-based aim assist: controllers are assisted, raw mouse input is not. Warzone's rotational aim assist follows targets while you strafe and track — but only when the input device is a controller.
Inputize makes your mouse arrive as a virtual Xbox 360 controller, so Warzone classifies your aim as controller input and applies its full aim-assist values — while the precision and muscle memory of your physical mouse remain yours.
The engine then tunes the stick itself: response curves decide how mouse speed becomes stick deflection (fine control near center for tracking, fast deflection at the edges for flicks), deadzone removes spurious drift, circularity keeps diagonal movement correct, and anti-recoil counters muzzle climb while you hold fire.
How it works
What actually happens between your mouse and the game.
Mouse becomes a stick
Inputize routes your mouse through a virtual Xbox 360 controller, so the game sees analog stick input instead of raw mouse axes.
Aim assist engages
Because the input arrives as a controller, the game's built-in aim assist applies to your aiming — and Inputize's engine shapes the stick so it engages smoothly.
Shaped, not raw
Response curves, deadzone and circularity control how mouse speed maps to stick deflection — the layer that decides tracking feel.
Per-game profiles
Each game keeps its own curve, sensitivity and hotkey set. Switch by pressing F8 and play.
Setting it up for Call of Duty: Warzone
Four steps, about two minutes.
Run Inputize and let it install the one-click ViGEmBus virtual driver, then press F8 to activate. The overlay shows the state.
Launch Warzone after the pad is active (or restart it once) and set controller input support in settings — the game will list an Xbox 360 controller under devices.
Tune in a casual match: the response-preview graph updates live as you drag curves, deadzone and circularity, and the Warzone profile remembers everything per game window.
Two Warzone tricks are built in and ship pre-configured in the Warzone template: auto ping taps the game's ping button (D-Pad Up by default) once per trigger pull, so your shots mark enemies while you keep aiming — and YY spam double-swaps weapons in a human rhythm (Mouse 4 by default) to cancel reload and armor-plate animations. Both are rebindable to any button in the Controller view.
Tuning Inputize for Warzone
The short version of our settings guide, applied to this game.
Start from the built-in Warzone Dynamic 1.0 template — it pre-sets the Smooth curve (~−75…−85) as the counter-bow for Warzone's own curve, ships the WASD Repeat Delay against menu double-skips, and keeps the stick defaults clean — then follow the recommended settings guide: in-game Hip 4/4, ADS 2, Dynamic curve, deadzones 0, and the aim-chain values in Aim chain if a specific complaint shows up.
Warzone layers its own non-linear stick curve on top of yours. The guide's curve section shows how to counter-bow it with the emulator's own curve strength — an adjustment to make by feel, not a fixed number. If something feels off, the symptom table maps common complaints ("flicks overshoot", "aim assist feels weak") to exact settings.
The honest part
What Inputize does — and what it does not.
Inputize modifies nothing in Warzone’s files, avoids attaching to the process and works purely through a signed virtual input driver — an input converter, not an injection. Whether Ricochet's policies permit input conversion is for Activision to define; every honest developer says the same: check the rules, use responsibly.
The virtual pad appears as a standard Xbox 360 controller, so Warzone applies its normal controller aim-assist values — Inputize adds no assist on top of the game's own.
Questions
Short answers to what people ask most.
Does mouse get aim assist in Warzone?
No — Call of Duty applies aim assist per input device, and a mouse receives none. Inputize sends your mouse through a virtual Xbox 360 controller, so the game classifies the input as controller and applies its aim-assist values to your aim — the mouse stays in your hand, the game sees a pad.
Is this different from a XIM adapter on console?
XIM is a hardware adapter between a controller port and a mouse — on a PC that layer is unnecessary and the hardware cannot expose tuning. Inputize runs on Windows, installs a virtual controller with one click, and adds what hardware dongles lack: response curves, deadzone and circularity, anti-recoil, ADS orbital aim assist and per-game profiles.
Will Ricochet ban me for this?
Only Activision's systems and policies decide that, and we will not pretend otherwise. What is knowable: Inputize modifies no game files and attaches to no process; it is a signed virtual input driver. Any aim-assist tool carries the game's terms — read them and use responsibly.
Does it work with Steam, Battle.net or Game Pass versions?
Yes — Cooper's version does not matter; the virtual controller is a Windows device and every Warzone build accepts Xbox 360 pads. If the game lists a controller in its settings, Inputize works.
What settings does Inputize need for Warzone?
Load the Warzone Dynamic 1.0 game template and set in-game: Hip 4/4, ADS 2, Dynamic curve, deadzones 0. In the emulator the template pre-sets the Smooth curve around −75…−85 (the counter-bow for Warzone's own curve), no always-held button and Steam Input off. Tune by feel from there — the response preview graph shows the input-to-output curve live while you drag.
Is the campaign, DMZ or ranked mode affected?
Same answer as other modes — if the build accepts controller input and you are on Windows, the virtual pad is visible. Ranked play has its own rules and moderation; decide on aim-assist tools per those rules. Use responsibly.
Does it change my DPI or in-game sensitivity?
No. Inputize does not touch your mouse DPI or game settings — it converts your existing mouse output into stick movement. In-game, set controller support and treat your mouse sensitivity as your personal stick curve; the response curve then shapes that mapping further.
Does it work through the Xbox app on PC (Remote Play / Game Pass)?
Yes — the Xbox app on Windows reads any standard XInput controller, and Inputize's virtual pad is exactly that, so it works both in Remote Play streaming from your console and in Warzone or Game Pass titles launched through the app. It also runs alongside a real controller: move the mouse and the app picks up the virtual pad, pick up the controller and it takes over.
